Who are you?

I’m KC, and I’ve been DJing for 10 years under my birth name, KC Mackey, which has always felt like a stage name to me. My love for dance music started young, and I was inspired to DJ after finding a welcoming community in Boston’s DJ scene, where I admired how DJs brought people together through music. My style is versatile—I started with house, techno, and disco, learning the craft on vinyl, but over time I fell in love with all styles of dance music, from hip-hop and R&B to Afrobeats, reggaeton, and more. My goal is to DJ any kind of party, blending genres in unexpected ways to keep dancers on their toes.

What's your DJ philosophy?

I approach every set with the same mindset, treating each event as a blank canvas. About two weeks before most events, I start prepping to ensure that what I bring to the table is always unique and authentically me. Spontaneity is a huge part of my process because no two events are ever the same. I like to experiment, see how people react, how they dance, and, most importantly, how the music makes them feel. They might not remember every track I play, but they’ll always leave with a certain feeling—and my goal is to make sure that feeling is nothing less than a high note.

What do you contribute to Spin Society?

My biggest strength as a DJ is my energy and my ability to connect with any crowd I’m working with. As an extrovert, I’m not just there to entertain—I want to party with the people! My preparation also plays a key role in delivering successful events. I focus on analyzing every detail to ensure my execution is as close to flawless as possible.
