Who are you?

I’m DJ Epic, and I’ve been DJing for 16 years and counting. My passion for music started when I was a kid—we didn’t have much, but we always had music. It was there for both the good times and the tough ones. Even back then, I’d hear songs on the radio and imagine ways to mix or restructure them, long before I even knew what a DJ was. It was just something that felt natural to me, and as I grew older, I knew I had to learn the craft. That passion has stayed with me, driving me to hone my skills and share my love of music with others.

What's your DJ philosophy?

When I approach a DJ set, I start by learning about the atmosphere and the vibe of the space I’m stepping into. I like to plan out a baseline playlist to give me an idea of the direction, but flexibility is key. Music is a language, and I let it guide me during my sets, taking the crowd on a journey that feels spontaneous and connected. The plan is there as a foundation, but the people in the room, their energy, and their reactions inspire me to adapt and create something unique. For me, DJing is all about that balance—setting a strong intention while leaving room for the magic to unfold.

What do you contribute to Spin Society?

What sets me apart as a DJ is my deep love and diverse taste in music, which were shaped by my upbringing. My mom introduced me to disco, R&B, and hip-hop, while my dad exposed me to classical, soft rock, and country. This diversity allows me to connect with people from all walks of life. When working with clients, I take the time to learn about the music that matters to them and their loved ones, blending their favorites with my own to create something truly special. My goal isn’t just to make people dance—it’s to build a connection through music that makes every event unforgettable. The passion I have for the music, the moment, and the people always shines through when I spin.
